My Martyred Brother

Punit Kaur Khalsa, 17 January 2007

My Martyred Brother

My brothers who walked,
anger in eyes, to marry
Coquettish death
Feeling the pride,
Waking up knowing,
Today will be the victory
For the Panth

My brothers who stood,
Fearlessly,
Against the oppressor
Bullets tearing their chests, bombs in the air,

My brothers who heard,
The unexplained blood,
The crying weight of the sadness, burnt corpses
Hidden in the tall grass,

My brothers who laughed
At the face of death
And rose fiercely to fight,
The caged Lions,
Their aura of light
Their tortured bodies
Lie forgotten, alone

My martyred brothers,
Who died smiling, fighting Strong.
