Shaheed Bhai Baljinder Singh Pandori

Bhai Baljinder Singh was born in the village of Pandori Bibi, District Hoshiarpur. Bhai Baljinder Singh was the only brother of two sisters. Bhai Sahib completed his metric education at Bassi Daulat Khan. Bhai Sahib grew up in a Sikhi environment, his father had passed away during his childhood and his mother brought him up with lots of love.

Bhai Baljinder Singh regularly visited Gurdwara Harkowal, where he would go to listen to kirtan and katha. The beadbi of Sri Akal Tahkt, really angered and frustrated Bhai Sahib, he began taking part in panthic activities. The Police started to watch and follow Bhai Sahib. Bhai Sahib was taken away by the police from his home and was brutally tortured. This however did not deter Bhai Sahib and once he was released he continued in Panthic sewa. Bhai Sahib's companions Bhai Jasveer Singh Lali and Bhai Balwinder Singh Binda were encountered by C.R.P.F Commando Bhagat Singh. After this, Bhai Sahib and other Sikh youth from his village were arrested. Bhai Sahib was tortured then jailed in a false police case. In prison Bhai Sahib met other Jhujaroo Singh's.

After being released from jail Bhai Sahib returned to his village and began farming, but the police harassment continued. Eventually Bhai Sahib left his home, land and family and joined the movement for independence, he joined forces with Bhai Kulwinder Singh Dhamundha, Bhai Swaran Singh Bisrampur and from his village Bhai Jasveer Singh Bibi, the Singh's began carrying out mission's.

On the 11th of January 1993, the police received a tip-off of the whereabouts of the Singh's. The police surrounded the Singh's in the village of Sutowali and the encounter began. After a long hard fought battle Bhai Kulwinder Singh Pinky and Bhai Jasveer Singh Bibi attained shaheedi, Bhai Baljinder Singh had been shot in the thigh and was injured. Whenever the police entered the house where Bhai Sahib was located they never able to leave, the police had to rip out the roof of the kitchen for Thanedar Balkar Singh to get out of the house. Bhai Sahib managed to escape.

On the 1st of March 1993, Bhai Sahib and his companions reached Sri Anandpur Sahib at Holla Mohalla, Bhai Sahib had been followed by the police CATS. As Bhai Sahib was returning from Holla Mohalla the police surrounded him at the village of Hareempur near Kartarpur and an encounter began. Bhai Sahib attained shaheedi on the 11th of March 1993.
